Today I will be doing my first ever makeup product review on the NYX Ultimate Multi Finish Shadow Palette. I received this product for free during Generation Beauty San Francisco and it has become a fast favorite thanks to the colors and portability. As I’ve already told a few people, this eyeshadow palette alone may convince me to start wearing makeup more regularly again!

Dimethicone, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Nylon-12, Cyclopentasiloxane, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Magnesium Stearate, Alumina, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Aluminum Hydroxide, Tin Oxide, Aqua / Water / Eau, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Silica, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, May Contain / Peut Contenir (+/-): Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140), Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090), Ultramarines (CI 77007), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Mica
I’m not as familiar with makeup ingredients as I am skincare ingredients, but something for me to note is that this product does not have bismuth oxychloride. Bismuth oxychloride is commonly found in mineral makeup like Bare Minerals and I avoid it as much as possible because of past breakouts and a burning skin sensation.
According to the NYX website:
Ever wish your fave eyeshadows came in every finish imaginable? Live the dream with the Ultimate Multi-Finish Shadow Palette in your kit. Available in four tone-inspired color combinations, these pro-level palettes are packed with 12 high-performance eyeshadows and pressed pigments. Each new set features a hand-picked selection of four vibrant shades in three mesmerizing finishes-from matte, to shimmer and sparkly metallic.
The NYX Ultimate Multi Finish Shadow Palette in Warm Rust comes in four main colors: a lighter beige, an orange, a reddish brown, and a chocolate brown. Each color comes in a matte, shimmery, and glittery/sparkle finish. While I was concerned that I would just have three eyeshadows of the exact same color, the differences in finish create variation which make each shade unique.
As someone who owns multiple eyeshadow palettes, including Urban Decay’s Naked 1-3 and Anastasia’s Modern Renaissance, what really appeals to be about NYX’s offering is the color selection and portability. The differing shades of brown allow me to create looks ranging from natural to smokey. The orange (which is my favorite color), adds an element of fun and can even be worn alone for summery eyes or blended with the brown shadows for a fall burnt orange look. The travel friendly packaging makes it such that I can take it anywhere without adding much bulk to my suitcase!
In terms of actual formulation, the shadows (with the exception of the light beige) are bold and pigmented. They blend like a dream (arguably better than any other shadow I’ve ever owned) and I have yet to have any issues with fallout.
Here is my first attempt at swatching eyeshadow on my arm and posting on a blog!

NYX Ultimate Multi Finish Shadow Palette in Warm Rust: Final Thoughts
With the versatile colors, high quality formulation, travel-friendly packaging, and affordable price point I can’t help but feel super excited about the NYX Ultimate Multi Finish Shadow Palette in Warm Rust and can’t wait to play with as many looks as I can! I’ve always viewed NYX as lower quality makeup because of the price, but this palette proves me wrong. The next time I go to the mall, I’ll definitely be stopping by the NYX store to see what else they have to offer.
