Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate

Galactomyces ferment filtrate was first discovered by a group of scientists visiting a sake brewery, where they noticed that the hands of the aged sake brewers looked significantly younger than their faces. The scientists narrowed it down to a strain of yeast called galactomyces, and created a fermented substance out of it which they trademarked “Pitera”. Hence, the famous SK-II line of skincare products was born.

In addition to its anti-aging effects (as evidenced by the hands of those sake brewers), studies have shown galactomyces ferment filtrate to have a number of benefits including the following:

  • Protects skin from environmental irritants and pollutants
  • Brightens skin
  • Reduces sebum production
  • Reduces pore size
